  • Composition: protein, carbohydrate, Vit. A, D, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E, niacin amide, calcium pantothenate, calcium, phosphorus, iron, Lysinel, choline, inositol, copper, iodine, potassium, sodium, manganese, zinc magnesium.

  • All the vitamins calcium and zinc are within the recommended dietary allowance (rda) in pregnancy.
  • No data for lysine, choline, inositol, manganese, phosphorus, protein carbohydrate in pregnancy.
  • Potassium and sodium are safe in pregnancy but should be avoided in patients with impaired kidney function and cardiovascular disease.
  • Iodine dose is within the (rda) but even pharmacologic doses may cause fetal goiter.
  • Calcium and magnesium should not be used in 1st trimester because of potential teratogenicity.
  • Chronic high doses of magnesium may cause neonatal hypermagnesemia, drowsiness, cardiovascular impairment, decreased muscle tone and respiratory distress.
