  • Composition: Vit., A, D, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, Folic acid, nicotinamide, pantothenate calcium copper, magnesium, potassium, calcium, zinc, manganese, iron, phosphorus, inositol, choline, bitartrate, iodine.

  • The doses of Vit. B1, B2 are above the recommended dietary allowance (rda) in pregnancy.
  • Controversial association between high doses of Vit. B1 and anencephaly.
  • Calcium and magnesium should be avoided in 1st trimester because of potential teratogenicity.
  • Chronic high doses of magnesium may cause neonatal hypermagnesemia with drowsiness, impaired cardiovascular function, respiratory distress and decreased muscle tone.
  • No rda for copper.
  • No data about choline, inositol, phosphorus, manganese or pantothenic acid in pregnancy.
  • The doses of Vitamin A, D, E, B6, nicotinamide, calcium pantothenate, iodine, zinc, calcium, iron, and folic acid are within the rda.
  • Pharmacologic doses of iodine may cause fetal goiter.
  • Potassium is safe in pregnancy but should be avoided in patients with kidney impairment and cardiovascular disease.
