  • High doses in animals cause reduction in pregnancy rate and minor developmental variations including delayed ossification.
  • Assumed to cross the placenta because of its similarity to other benzodiazepines which known to cross the placenta.
  • Benzodiazepines in general are associated with increased risk of congenital anomalies if used in 1st trimester and with neonatal withdrawal if used in chronic doses throughout pregnancy.
