  • No fetal adverse effects have been reported with triprolidine in animal studies, no well-controlled human data, suggested possible association with cardiovascular defects in 1st trimester exposure.
  • No adequate human data for pseudoephedrine but suggested possible association with umbilical cord">gastroschisis in 1st trimester exposure and for sympathomimetic drugs in general they are teratogenic in animals and possibly associated with minor malformations, club foot and inguinal hernias in human pregnancy.
  • No well-controlled data for codeine, but suggested possible association with respiratory, genito-urinary malformations, downs syndrome, umbilical and inguinal hernias, pyloric stenosis and hydrocephaly . Opiates in general are suggested to produce cleft lip\palate, heart , musculoskeletal , gastroinestinal malformations and inguinal hernias. High doses of codeine at term can cause neonatal withdrawal and respiratory depression.
