  • Non-selective beta-adrenergic blocker for treatment of maternal hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, cardiac disease, hypertension and for fetal tachycardia.

  • Crosses human uterus, which is attached to embryo and walls of uterus">placenta, may have oxytocic effect on uterus if used in high doses.
  • No adequate human data in first trimester but siggested possible association with cardiovascular defects and hypospadias.
  • Chronic high doses of the drug in the second and third trimesters, can cause intrauterine growth retardation, fetal bradycardia, non-reactive nst, neonatal beta-blockade, respiratory depression hypoglycemia, hypocalcemia with convulsions, polycythemia, hyperbilirubinemia, thrombocytopenia.
